Over the years, our Merchant Development team has noticed certain patterns and “habits” that our Merchants have used to build success inside their accounts.
Making these three small tasks a daily habit can help with staying on top of your Affiliates, your account and having a better sense of understanding about how all your reports work together. The main key point with all 3 habits is one simple word: “Review”.
Reviewing Your Affiliates
Start off each day by taking a look at your Affiliates on a daily basis. This can be found by going to your Affiliate Timespan Report and filter it for the day prior, similar to what we did when we reviewed transactions.
You will then see a pie chart, as well as every Affiliate that was active for you on that day.
As you can see in the image above. The breakdown of these Affiliates includes statistics such as
- Clicks
- # of Sales
- Commissions
- Conversion Percentage
- Manual Credits
- And Much More!
You will be able to see the Affiliate ID, website, and name as well! An easily downloadable .csv report is available to use for your own tracking to use to start to notice who your strongest Affiliates are as well. You can work with those Affiliates to maximize their potential, leading to greater earning earnings for both parties in the future.
Also, if you are not an auto-approval Merchant, then you need to be checking on your pending applications daily. Affiliates do not like waiting on approval status for a long time and you may miss out on a potential power Affiliate because you took too much time to respond to their application request into your program.
When you log in, you can see if you have any pending applications from your To-Do List.
Clicking the number next to Total Pending will take you to your Affiliate List. It will list all of the pending Affiliates you have waiting. In each yellow box like the image below, the radio button will be placed on “Not Approved.” You can then review the Affiliates information and statistics, determine if they are a good fit for your program, and then accept or decline them as a member.
Reviewing Transactions
Second, you will want to review the previous day’s transactions. You can find these in the Transaction Detail Report. You will want to filter at the top by the specific date for the day before and then spend a few minutes going through each transaction against your own internal sales record.
Look for anything that may seem out of the ordinary in places like the transaction ID, the page the banner was clicked from, the Affiliate who received the sale. Make sure the sale amount and commission amount are correct as well.
These quick checks can help you understand how sales are tracked and paid out through the ShareASale system, and also allow you to see what Affiliates are performing strongly for you on a consistent basis.
Reviewing Banner Performance
Finally, you will want to look into your various banners that you have uploaded that Affiliates can use to promote your program on ShareASale.
When you open the Banner Performance Report inside your account, you will see an itemized list by Banner ID. For each banner ID, you will see the following statistics tracked:
- Banner Type
- Unique Hits
- Commissions
- Net Sales
- Number of Sales
- Number of Voids
Taking the time to review these statistics gives you a better overview of what banners are performing well, as well as what ones could be revised to help gain more sales for your Affiliates. You can even find out what Affiliates are using lower performing banners and send a note to them asking how they promote that banner on their sites and offer assistance as well.
In conclusion, taking the small amount of time daily to do these three simple tasks is very beneficial to you as a Merchant in the Affiliate Marketing industry. It will help grow your program as you come to understand who your strongest Affiliates are, where your creatives are working the best, and build relationships with Affiliates that may not have existed before.
