It may be overwhelming as a new Affiliate on ShareASale. Once you begin to browse through the Merchant list you are met with various categories and brand names – some you may be familiar with and some of which you are not. You may think it’s a good idea to cast the widest net possible and hit “join program” for all of the ones you’re interested in!
We suggest taking a different approach. Identify five (or fewer!) companies that align with your site’s content and start there. Look at their statistics to see how they’ve performed over time on ShareASale. Spend time writing thoughtful application emails and show that you are willing to invest time and energy into promoting their product or service.
Building a strong relationship with a few quality Merchants may be more lucrative over time than having hundreds of active Merchant programs in your program that don’t perform. Be an active and responsive Affiliate partner to your Merchants – you may find they offer suggestions or they may ask you to offer some as well.
