ShareASale’s Make-A-Video has long allowed Merchants to provide creative and product specific videos that Affiliates could use on their websites. Merchants could set up cue points to display product information at relevant times during the video. The original launch of the Make-A-Video tool was from 2008 listed here if you are curious. Soon after, we launched the tool for Affiliates as well, allowing them to create videos promoting multiple different Merchants.
Based on feedback over the years, the drawbacks were the Flash (.flv) video files which caused formatting headaches and issues with the aspect ratio.
We’ve now updated this tool for both Merchants and Affiliates, moving away from Flash to HTML 5, allowing for:
- Flexible Sizing Options and Previews
- Accurate Aspect Ratios
- A Easy To Use Format
This is the main screen of the updated Video Creative Tool.
Here is an example of when you have already have a hosted video
This update allows you to preview immediately, no more skipping around pages!
You can add all pertinent information to to the video that you need and the video will come up automatically when you add in the hosted URL. The drop-down social media functions at the top right allow a reader of an Affiliates blog or website to share the page where they viewed the video.
Click on Include Cue Point Sidebar and you can add in cue points at different intervals of the video using products found in your datafeed, or a specific image and click URL you place with your own text and colors. In these three examples, you will see that you can set the specific time you want an image to show on the side of the video.
This is done by placing the time in seconds under “Video Time” and once the image is found in the Datafeed search or entered manually, just hit the green ‘Plus’ button to add the cue point.
Finally, this is an example of how the video will look when all the cue points are set up.
We are excited to introduce this new update to you to help save time when making video creatives in the future. You can find it in your interface under My Creatives --> Videos
