My essential ingredients for a great blog post vary based on the nature or intention of the post. Is the post meant to be inspirational? Is it more of an informational post? Is the post meant to entertain me or allow me to escape with a mental break during a busy work day? When I sat down to choose my favorite blog posts of 2013, there were two posts that immediately jumped to mind.
1. How to Implement a Custom Coupon and Coupon Affiliate Strategy by Matt Enders
One of my picks is a guest post on the ShareASale blog. It is written by Matt Enders, the CEO of MGECOM, Inc. You can read it here.
Matt’s article is so informative and really hits home with great points regarding implementing a coupon affiliate strategy.
The coupon affiliate conundrum has been covered many times before, but this article stands out with Matt’s perspective on the subject, and his super-useful tips on how to implement your chosen coupon affiliate strategy right now. I feel it’s a must read for just about everyone in the industry.
2. Why Network Based Affiliate Management is a Conflict of Interest
My other selection is a post by Robert Glazer, the Founder & Managing Director of Acceleration Partners. You can find the post here.
Robert always has at least one ear tuned to the affiliate industry and wrote up a great post on the conflict of interest that comes into play with network-based affiliate management. Robert definitely captures the ins and outs of the issue and backs up his stance with evidence and rational thinking that is difficult to argue against. There are important revelations here that many retailers have never even considered before.
I could name a dozen or more blog posts that were right up there as one of my favorites in 2013, but in abiding by my rule of keeping a blog post short and to the point, I will stop right here!
