Fashion bloggers are recognized as an influential force in the industry and some are even called upon to collaborate directly with designers or retailers. Brands such as H&M, Gap, and Kate Spade have teamed up with bloggers to design looks or to collaborate for specific collections. Retailers understand that online shopping has a major presence and many times bloggers are the key to the retailer’s front door!
A majority (51%) of Americans will be shopping online this year… – Tech Journal, 2012

Electric Avenue – Neon Hues and Colorful Prints
It is time to exchange the jewel tones and richer hues for a brighter palette full of neon! “Tangerine Tango Orange, Solar Power Yellow and Bellfower Purple topped the list for this Spring” (Bloomberg.com, 2012). Women’s apparel, accessories and shoes are more colorful than usual and are even predicted to generate increased sales. According to Bloomberg.com, “The Multicolored palette will help spur a 4 percent gain in women’s apparel sales this year” (Bloomberg.com, 2012).
Suggested Keywords: spring apparel, multi-color, bright color, women’s spring, trendy clothing, trends
Opposites Attract
This classic combo of white and black makes a striking statement and turns a simple shirt or accessory into something even more chic. Feature this Spring trend with striking patterns, such as stripes or checkers, or the “Lux Tux” outfit with a blazer featuring the contrasting colors. According to David Wolfe, the creative director of New York-based fashion forecaster The Doneger Group, “black has had a ‘stranglehold’ on fashion for more than 30 years.”
Suggested Keywords: black and white, color block, white blazer, black blazer, women’s fashion
Bold Retro Prints
The resurgence of vintage fashion will be seen through an ode to the Sixties mod with retro prints, graphic patterns and bold shapes. Designers are revisiting the era by creating clothes with bold geometric patterns, slim silhouettes and extreme hemlines. Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week designers are taking a retrospective approach back to the 1960’s.
Suggested Keywords: retro fashion, retro print, geometric pattern, vintage
Leather Forever (Faux, of course)
This classic fabric is quickly becoming a fashion staple. For Spring, designers loosened up the biker-chic look with fun, vibrant pieces. According to the Fur and Leather Apparel Manufacturing Industry report (ReportLinker, 2013), the total domestic demand for the industry in 2011 was $600 million USD and only estimated to increase in value.
Suggested Keywords: leather coat, leather fashion, women’s fashion
Ruffles and Flounce!
Spring ruffles are taking on a more architectural or modern detail rather than the free-flowing waves of the past. These ruffles are used to create drama or make a statement along the waist, neckline or shoulder.
Suggested Keywords: ruffle shirt, ruffles, womens ruffle, ruffle dress
