When Brian Littleton, our CEO and Founder, chose ShareASale as the name of the company, his goal was to come up with a name that really embodies the service that ShareASale provides. Retailers are “sharing” their sales with Affiliates that promote them and send customers their way. Makes sense, right? On paper, it’s a very simple combination of three short words combined into one that rolls right off the tongue.
Well, it turns out the name is more complicated than we all thought. Most mispronunciations of the name are pretty uninspiring such as ShareAndSale or ShareSale (ho hum, they forgot the A). In written form, dashes are often added between the words (Share-A-Sale). Lately, however, people have really stepped up the creativity.
I call everyone ‘Darling’ because I can’t remember their names. – Zsa Zsa Gabor
We decided it was time to start writing these off the wall versions of “ShareASale” on our wall to keep track of the fun. Please keep in mind, we are not laughing at anyone’s expense here. We take full responsibility (ok only partial) for the fact that there is a slight degree of difficulty involved in our name leading to these whacky versions of our handle.
Without further ado, here are our favorites over the years:
3rd place ShowerASale
2nd place Sheriff Sale
1st place Sharon Sale
Honorable mention: CherrySale, ShareADebt, ShareAClick, Share&Build It, ShareTheSay, YouShareIt, Share A Lot, ShareThing, Save-A-Sale, ShareSeals
Have a great weekend everybody! We’ll have another fun topic for you next Friday.

March 11, 2013 at 3:06 pmVery funny. I just had a similar conversation yesterday with some friends. My name is Barbara, and the most common misnomers are Deborah (which makes sense) and Margaret (say what?).
Thanks for “Sharon”
