One of the most important tasks for a Merchant is to ensure their program remains online. To stay “online” means that there is a positive balance in the program’s account. When an account dips below zero the program is taken “offline” and Affiliate links are broken, or turned off, until a positive balance is reinstated.
Since Affiliates what to make sure their links will remain intact, they will take a program’s uptime history into consideration when joining a new program. The uptime history lists anytime a specific Merchant has been online, low funds, or temporarily offline. Affiliates may be hesitant to join or promote a Merchant program that shows frequent account balance issues. So, to increase the likelihood that Affiliates will find your program attractive, Merchants will always want to keep a positive account balance.
There is a New Solution!
ShareASale has just added a new tool that will help Merchants stay on top of their account balance updates. In addition to email alerts, Merchants now have the option to be notified via SMS message as well!
With ShareASale’s new SMS Alerts, or text messages, Merchants can opt in to receive any of the following alerts right to their cell phone!:
- When their program is at “Low Funds”
- When the program is “Temporarily Offline”
- If Auto Deposit is enabled, receive an alert if Auto Deposit has failed
SMS Alerts are very easy to set up and will assist in keeping your program online and Affiliate links active at all times!
Set up SMS Alerts in 3 Easy Steps:
1.) Click on the “SMS Text Alerts” icon listed under the My Account menu option. Next, enter your country code plus the mobile phone number you would like the notifications sent to.
2.) After entering your phone number, you will receive a text message with a four digit confirmation code as a security precaution. Enter the confirmation code on the website to authorize SMS Alerts.
3.) Now you are able to choose which SMS Alerts you would like to enable!

February 28, 2013 at 1:39 amIs there any way to set it up to inform LOW BALANCE at certain available balance, i. e. if it is around $150?
Cheers,

February 28, 2013 at 6:59 pmIf you set up your low balance notification at that amount, that is what will trigger the message. Under the Account Menu in Edit Settings is where you’ll find that setting.

March 18, 2015 at 4:38 pmWhat about affiliates??? We would LOVE to get a text notification every time a commission goes through, and that text would show the amount of the commission and which merchant’s program the commission was generated for.
THAT WOULD BE SO COOL that I we would go out of our way to ONLY promote Shareasale approved merchant campaigns. We’ve been doing this for over a decade now and we make over $12,000 a month in total commissions through various networks and merchants. The truth is we can promote any offer we want, so I would choose the offers that give us SMS alerts FIRST over all others!!

March 19, 2015 at 10:36 amBrent – you’d have to use the API on that but it is feasible. With such a high volume of Affiliate sales and transactions I think your phone would be flooded pretty quickly I don’t know that a majority of Affiliates would want this enough to have us add it as a feature for all.
