Today I’m excited to introduce Two Factor Authentication for all ShareASale accounts. I’m a big champion of two factor authentication, and when available, I set it up on all of the online services that I use. We have chosen to use “Soft Tokens” for our second factor, which means you will use your mobile device as your token. Our setup is based on the TOTP as specified in RFC 6238, which makes it compatible with “Google Authenticator” and “Amazon Virtual MFA”. This ensures that you have a wide range of “apps” to choose from, covering most mobile platforms. These apps display a 6 digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Once you have activated Two Factor Authentication for your ShareASale account, you will need to append this 6 digit code to the end of your password each time you log in.

Setting up Two Factor Authentication is easy – once you have installed your preferred app on your mobile, you scan a QR code in your ShareASale account to add your ShareASale key. You will verify the setup by entering in the first two codes displayed by the app. Going forward you will add the 6 digit code to the end of your password when you log in to your ShareASale account.
No one security feature ensures the protection of your account, but two factor authentication offers additional protection from a wide range of attacks, and I highly recommend setting up this security feature on your account. It is available for Merchants, Affiliates and OPM accounts, as well as for “Extra Logins” on both Merchant and Affiliate sides.
