Why Content?
Plain and simple: Writing valuable content for your site can get you more targeted traffic and help you to increase conversions.
By adding unique content, you make your site more valuable for the “Search Engines” to crawl by a much wider array of search terms. From there it’s like a snow ball effect… people will more likely link to valuable content which in turn WILL increase your sites search engine rankings.<<< link building!
NOTE: The more often you create “Unique Valuable” posts the more love you will also receive for the SERP’s!
By getting more traffic, the amount of potential TARGETED readers will increase, thus increasing conversions! Providing value to your visitors, they will be more likely to remember you or bookmark your site when they need your product or service.
The biggest value to your UNIQUE content is that your visitors will have more ideas and knowledge of the product before clicking through your link, which almost guarantees a conversion!

December 2, 2010 at 10:47 amI agree that content is essential especially if you are selling mostly affiliate products. Google will not recognize you at all if all it sees is affiliate links. Also, you cannot compete with the larger retail websites unless you have unique written content that is optimized for low competition keywords.

December 10, 2010 at 8:34 pmHi Don Elee,
In case you are not able to produce regular content, then you outsource it. As simple as that :)
You can lookout for websites like elance.com or freelancer.com or fiverr.com and search for content writers who can deliver you nice content for some stipulated amount.
Oh. Just forgot to mention. I am also a content developer! In case you need my service, just put me a mail.
We can always talk.

Mohul

December 17, 2010 at 4:27 pmI agree. I spent so much time doing backlinking for some of my sites and at the end I realised that the blog that google was ranking better was the one that I was not paying attention to with SEO strategies, just pure unique content. Thanks for the tips.

December 19, 2010 at 10:39 pmGreat article Jason. 100% agree and I’d go as far as to say you need to get yourself a schedule defined for adding new content too. Make sure you get into the habit of adding content every X days or 2-3 times per week. We’ve found that 3 updates a week can really have a solid impact. Obviously focus on targeted key phrases and words that are going to tie into your site focus :)

December 30, 2010 at 1:51 amI absolutely agree with this article. In a blog, unique and exclusive content should be a priority to improve the SEO but also to attract more visitors.

January 3, 2011 at 2:04 pmSometimes when I’m stuck (writer’s block, brain freeze, or a little laziness), I go to similar websites to see what they’re writing about. Then research.
Also, using Google Keyword Tool helps to pump up the creative juices – and gives me an idea of how many searches have been made for the kwyword.
I also use Brainstormer – but that is exclusive to SiteSell users.
Best of luck in 2011!

January 13, 2011 at 10:11 amTrue, because google search tools are increasingly becoming smarter and smarter in determining which blogs have unique content and which are just filled with a mishmash of keywords and filler words.

January 21, 2011 at 9:04 pmHow about simply podcasting.
Basically every single podcast presents you with an opportunity for a fresh original post that you can use as content.
