Recently, there have been a lot of questions about how to manage both a PPC search campaign and an affiliate program.
Affiliates can be very valuable partners in PPC search, however, if you – as a merchant – wish to place certain rules on which terms are allowed, and which are not, there are two very important things to do.
1. Go to your “Account Settings”, click on “Edit Settings” and make sure that all of your rules are spelled out in your “Affiliate Agreement”. This is the most critical step because this is the legal agreement between you and your affiliates. If you need to make changes please make sure to contact your affiliates with the new policies, etc…
2. We have created a new tool called our “PPC Bidding Rules” – you can see the listing in your account it is the last entry under “Account Settings”. You are able to upload a list of keywords, and also whether or not you allow PPC bidding on those values. You can also set Bid Limits for those terms that you do allow bidding on and provide descriptions as to why you restrict bidding on certain terms.
Again – affiliates can be very productive and valuable partners in PPC search, but the above tools are in place to make sure that you are getting what you want in terms of value out of both the affiliate channel and the PPC channel.
