It’s easy to personalize the links on your website or blog to provide a more visually appealing experience to your readers. There is definitely a place and a purpose for traditional banner ads but taking your Affiliate links and attaching them to images within your posts is a more native and authentic approach to your promotional activity.
To create your own links, log in to your account, click on the ‘Links’ tab and then click on Create a Custom Link
When this page opens, you will be able to choose the Merchant you want and enter the URL of the page you want the link to go to.
You also can enter any additional tracking that you want on your end which we call the ‘afftrack’. You can also ask for a short link URL called a ‘License Plate Link’ on ShareASale. I will attach some blogs under “Additional Resources” at the bottom of this tip explaining more about this feature.
For example, I want to have a link to ShareASale Merchant Baseball Rampage as my blog discusses the Detroit Tigers. Today’s blog talks about Miguel Cabrera and though I’d like to have a link to Baseball Rampage who sells a replica of his bat, I want to use a picture of Miguel holding it. So here is what I’ll do.
First, go back to the Create a Custom Link page and choose Baseball Rampage from the drop down Merchant List.
Second, I’ll add an afftrack value of “Miggy” to follow it in my ShareASale reports.
Third, I put in destination URL as the page with the bat on Baseball Rampage.
Finally, I’ll choose to not have a shortened URL at this time.
My custom link to be used is as follows:
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=182699&b=87861&m=13358&afftrack=Miggy&urllink=www%2Ebaseballrampage%2Ecom%2FBaseball%2FBaseball%2DBats%2F7147%2FSam%2DBat%2D2013%2DRMC1%2DSelect%2DMaple%2DBat%2Ehtml
I can use any image or text with this link using standard HTML linking formatting and that is how you create a clickable link for images on your site!
