Once you’ve found the right brands to partner with, the next big step is to start getting affiliate links. Text links are just one form of affiliate link. Within your ShareASale affiliate account, there are numerous other options and creatives available – banners, videos, widgets, short links, product datafeeds, and more.
Don’t be intimated if you don’t know HTML – grabbing the link that you want is easier than you think. Here is a step-by-step on how to get a link.
Start by logging in, and going to the ‘Links’ –> ‘Get A Link/Banner‘ page inside the interface.
On your ‘Get Links’ page, you will see many options to help you sort, browse, and find the link that you are looking for. If you are searching for a specific link and have only joined one Merchant, they will be easy to find on this page. If you’ve joined quite a few program, however, you may want to start with first filtering the list first to find the one you prefer.
Once you find the Merchant you are looking for just click on the green ‘Get Links’ button next to their name and that will take you to a page with all their available creatives.
Don’t be Intimidated by the Multitude of Choices!
Options are good. The more options, the greater chance that you’ll find something you like. Use the dynamic slide bar to browse the various options – from banners to coupons, even videos, datafeed links, and a custom link creator. For starters, we will focus on text links.
In the text links tab, choose the one that suits your need, click “Get HTML Code,” located on the far right of the row.
PRO TIP: Sort the creatives further by selecting “ADVANCED” and filter by keyword, creative ID, category, date modified, or the banner size.
A box will expand underneath your choice and display the code for the affiliate link. Simply copy & paste this into the backend of your website to post on your blog. Prefer the URL only? Click ‘Select URL Only.’
Real Life Example
In our blog post “#GiftGuides: Gifts for the Ultimate Fan,” we recommend a variety of sports-related products, but didn’t use an affiliate link for “Fanatics” in the post, so let’s change that.
Using the process that was outlined at the beginning of the post, I have sorted to Fanatics, found the link I want to use and in this case, I’m copying the ‘URL Only’ option.
On the post, inside WordPress, highlight the word that you want to link and then click the ‘Insert/Edit Link’ button in the menu bar.
Now, take the code you were given by ShareASale, and link to it in the URL field.
Voila! You’ve got an affiliate linked post.
