Review Commission Rules
Open the Commission Rules tab under “Tools.” This is where Merchants can set up specific rules for commissioning their Affiliates.
“Commission Rules allow you to create flexible and custom payouts based on a variety of conditions. Commission rules run near the end of the transaction process, so they can override almost any other commission settings that could affect an Affiliate.”
Merchant Programs set these up to make sure Affiliates get paid out the way the Merchant wants based on the value of each Affiliate partner. ShareASale has set up a list of pre-defined rules that Merchants can use. Click on Add Predefined Rule and you will see options under three categories:
- Incentives to Join
- Clickstream Attribution
- Transaction Based
These are provided as a starting point for Merchants, but they are always free to customize their own commission rules. Click the Add Custom Rule button to get set up. Be sure to choose the appropriate conditions for the rule. Again, a list of options will popup on this page when Add Conditions is clicked.
Affiliate Tags
Tagging is a super important part of your Merchant account. It not only keeps your affiliate base organized, but many other ShareASale tools rely on tags!
Affiliate Tags should be checked regularly. Open the Affiliate List and in the filters section, click on Advanced Filters and Sorting. In the popup box that comes up, click on Affiliate Source. From there, Merchants can then sort through the various tags they have made and view the Affiliates inside each group. Tags are removed by clicking on the tag and then clicking the “x” that comes up. Also, if Add Tag is clicked (this is always under an Affiliate card), the tag manager can open and full groups of tags can be removed.
