The ShareASale FTP server has various uses for both Merchants and Affiliates. Let’s explore more about what FTP is and why it’s useful for sharing datafeeds!
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This is used to send files between two computers on a network. It is a common way to send bulk or large files, and it is also a great way to store files off local machines and in one remote location.
On the ShareASale network, Merchants can set up their own product uploads to our FTP server by requesting FTP credentials. Similar to how Affiliates automate downloads, Merchants can automate product uploads with this feature. To set this up, contact our Tech Team by support ticket or send a e-mail to ShareASale@ShareASale.com. To expedite the request, the Merchant can include their server’s static IP address from where the product datafeed file uploads will originate.
Once uploaded, the Merchant can then allow access to specific Affiliates. Granting FTP access is a fantastic way to increase the Affiliate’s ability to generate quality traffic as well as their overall performance.
