How to Find Your Original Category
When you join ShareASale as a Merchant, you will have selected a main category that your program falls under. Affiliates, when searching, can do a category search and find you in that list. You can find the category you chose in the Account Details page.
Once this page is open, you will be able to see the original category at the top middle of the page. In this example, you can see the category is “Career/Jobs/Employment”.
Adding an Additional Category
To gain more exposure for your program, you can add an extra category. There are two places to do this:
First, you can click on Program Boosts from the left side of your homepage, then click “Buy Now” under “Additional Category”. You can also click the + sign next your main category on the Account Details page. Either action will then open a new window where you can select a second category, confirm, and pay.
Why is this Important?
Adding an extra category is important to the growth of your Merchant program. This is especially true if your program has many products that do not fit into one specific niche.
For example, if you run a fashion site then you may have products such as clothing, shoes, and jewelry. You would want to make sure you are in both the Clothing and Accessories categories to have a higher appeal to Affiliates.
