Welcome to the third and final part of the ‘How to Start a Blog’ series. We’re so close to being done! Once WordPress is installed, you’ll want to start looking into design options for the front end of your website.
You want your blog to look pretty, right?
Buy an Attractive Theme
Like the first two steps, there are certain things you’ll want to look out for in a blog theme. You want to be sure to pick a clean, responsive theme, so your audience can easily read your blog from any device!
I recommend picking a theme that allows for customization so that you can truly make it your own. Some added bonuses I’ve come across in certain blog themes are: included stock images, WooCommerce ready (if you plan to sell products on your blog) and different color schemes to choose from.
If you’re tight on budget, you can also check out WordPress’s free theme directory. However, I recommend buying a theme that is high quality. It’s worth it to spend money on a theme that has the ability to take your blog above and beyond what you created it in your head to be.
ShareASale has options for you when it comes to finding themes. Remember, if you use one of these theme providers, be sure to let your readers know! You never know who lands on your blog and is thinking about updating their own blog theme or starting a blog. Our more popular Merchants that sell themes include:
I’m personally a big fan of StudioPress. You can filter by categories and features what you’re looking for. For example, if you plan to write a lot of recipes on your blog, you may choose something like this from StudioPress:
Here are the features this theme would provide:
Once you’ve found the theme you love, congratulations! You now have yourself an attractive blog to share your stories, recipes, adventures or whatever it may be! All you need to do now is log into your WordPress and upload the theme you have chosen and downloaded. You can then see this reflected under ‘Appearance’ > ‘Themes’ in your WordPress admin and then hit activate.
Remember that you do have options. If this is too intimidating, you can always choose a platform like ShareASale Merchant Weebly to help build your blog.
Now go forth, and create some amazing content to go with your amazing blog, you rockstar! In the meantime, I’ll be busy crafting up a ‘How to Take Your Blog to the Next Level’ series!
