2016 has been quite a year! The year has come and gone, leaving us with several hilarious internet crazes and memes that we couldn’t help but look back at one more time. Before Michael Phelps competed in his event at the 2016 Rio Olympic games this year, he made this face and it sent the internet (and now some commercials) on fire with funny explanations. 

After losing four Oscar nominations, Leonardo DiCaprio fans took to the internet to depict sad Leo, struggling Leo, and Leo waiting until next year to finally win. Well guess what? – 2016 was his year! Bring on the memes with Leo AND his Oscar.

PokemonGo has become a world wide phenomenon this year, and so have its memes. Memes about game players wandering the streets to hatch their Pokemon and players sitting at local PokeStops for hours on end to catch the rarest Pokemon have taken the world by storm. 

Drake’s new album cover art dropped this year, and pictured the huge Toronto CN Tower with a clearly photo shopped, miniature Drake perched on the top. Internet meme-rs ran with it, and little Drake’s began popping all over the internet. 

Mannequin challenge fans have been posing in still action frame videos of all kinds. Freeze!
