It’s been a few years since we discussed our Merchant Newsletter tool here on the blog, so we thought it would be a fine time for a quick refresher and overview of how the macros inside the tool work to make it simple and quick to send a great newsletter to your Affiliates.
In the Affiliates tab of your homepage, click on Send Newsletter to open the ShareASale Newsletter Editor. We have three types you can send at this time:
1. New Blank Text Newsletter
Start a new text format newsletter from scratch. You may add an HTML section at any time.
2. New Blank HTML Newsletter
Start a new HTML format newsletter from scratch. You may create a text version of your newsletter or let us provide a link to view your newsletter online for text-only email clients.
3. New Split Campaign
The Split Campaign newsletter feature enables you to group two or more newsletters for the purpose of maximizing your newsletter open rate
Once you have chosen the newsletter you would like to send it’s time to start building it using our macros.
This is the main newsletter screen:
These are the Macros:
At first glance, the macro instructions on the newsletter page may seem rather daunting. Taking a second look, you may realize just how easy these macros are to use and what a world of difference they can make for your affiliates.
What are Macros Exactly?
Simply put it’s a way to personalize your communication. When a macro is used in a newsletter or reply email, it will generate the receiver’s personal information in place of the macro you typed. So you can do things like address your affiliate by their first name, list what their monthly commission earnings are with your program, and even provide them with creatives that are already embedded with their own affiliate tracking links.
Let’s show an example of a newsletter created with the macros below:
When your Affiliate receives this, instead of the macros, it will look like this:
As you can see, macros are a very easy way to personalize your communication to your Affiliates, and quick to set up as well!
But Wait…There’s More!
We also have macros available to send in newsletters for Affiliates to get specific links.
By sending them the “Get Links URL” macro, it will give the Affiliate a URL that will direct them to a page on their end to get a specific tracking link, please see below.
They can then get the creative code of their choosing.
Finally….
Keep in mind you can use the macros in your reply emails as well! This “Get Links URL” Macro is a fantastic way to send your new Affiliates to a page where they can grab the links to promote you ASAP!
