As bloggers, our job is to cultivate content for our audience to keep them interested and coming back for more. Dedicated blogs crop up around a variety of topics: fashion, travel, kids or family life, food and so on. We can get so caught up trying to consistently publish new content that we fail to check in to see if it’s still what the audience wants.
Getting to know your readers is simple and there are many different ways to reach out them. The easiest way is to respond to their comments. End your post with a question to encourage a dialogue! A simple conversation can open your eyes to the things that resonated the most with your audience and could help you explore different perspectives or be the source of new, inspired content.
You can also set up your comment system to track their URL, so you can look at their website and see what their interests are. If you run a travel blog and find a number of your readers have blogs about Hawaii, you may want to plan a post around the Hawaiian Islands.
Think about how your niche content stands out among other bloggers. What is it about your blog that is special to these readers? If you don’t know, don’t be afraid to ask them! Put a poll on your website, reply to the responses, post comments on their blogs and keep building your community!
