Autumn is a season for cravings. With the change of season comes new, tasty flavors. From apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice and butternut squash, there are so many fall flavors that inspire new creations in the kitchen. We went around the office to find out what dish they look forward to indulging in this season. We asked some team members…
What is your favorite fall comfort food?
Let’s hear what they shared!
As soon as the leaves start to turn my favorite thing to make is big pot of chili. I usually prep all of the ingredients in the morning and let it cook in the slow cooker all day. That way all you have to do when you get home from work is add your toppings (I prefer sour cream and shredded cheese) and eat!
During the fall, I love to warm up with a big bowl of pozole; red preferably. As soon as it gets chilly in Chicago, my taste buds instantly start craving it. My favorite place to indulge is at Taqueria El Ranchito in Uptown. They load you up with all the fixings (tostadas, limes, cabbage, etc), too! By far my favorite fall comfort food.
Last year, I was introduced me to red wines warmed with fall spices such as clovers and cinnamon and served warm. As for comfort food, while others may be tired of the trend, I still look forward to all things pumpkin for fall. I’ve successfully cranked out pumpkin muffins on more then one occasion which I slather with maple butter. Both of these cozy fall treats are perfect to enjoy by a fireplace… or in my case a radiator.
