Alfa Bravo C-Tango

April 23, 2009 – 12:37 pm by Jason Rubacky

Today I was able to sit down with Carolyn Tang of ShareASale. Carolyn and I discussed her role at ShareASale, her favorite sport and even her favorite foods…. Check out the full interview below!

Carolyn Tang ShareASale Client Services Director

J: What is your role/function here at ShareASale?
C: I head up the Client Services team, so in that role I facilitate relationships between merchants and affiliates, and make sure all parties involved have everything they need to ensure success.  That could be training, could be tools, and sometimes just a bit of encouragement.  Additionally, I am also responsible for making sure that the girls’ bathroom has a constant supply of quilted TP.

J: How long have you been with ShareASale?
C: Been here for four glorious years!!!

J: What is the most enjoyable and rewarding part of your job?
C: I have to say, I meet so many marketers on both the advertiser and retailer side, that have truly new and innovative ideas.  The folks we work with are so passionate and tech savvy, they can bring a concept to life in a matter of days.  It’s really exciting to see those projects grow.  I also really love working with merchants who are enthusiastic about building a successful affiliate program, it’s contagious.

J: Have you ever had a really unusual job before ShareASale?
C: I used to be a kids’ tennis coach at the YMCA, that was the best job ever.  (Sorry, Brian!)  I’d still be doing that if my parents didn’t make me go to college.

J: If you weren’t at ShareASale, what would your dream job be?
C: It would probably be to work at ShareASale!  Really, nothing beats working for a company that believes in the same things you do.

J: Where are you originally from?
C: Pluto, formerly known as a planet.  And subsequently, San Diego.

J: Where did you go to school? What kind of degree do you have?
C: I think the ongoing joke is where didn’t I go to school, lol!  My undergraduate degree is from Berkeley, I have a masters in journalism from Northwestern University, and an MBA in finance and economics from Loyola University of Chicago.  One of these days, I’d like to go back.  The best thing about life is that there is so much to learn.

J: Describe yourself in 3 words…
C: I wanted to write, “Kapow, shazam and tangalicious,” but our sales director David has informed me that “Sassy and smart ass” would be more appropriate.

J: Favorite sport/team?
C: Hockey, let’s go Red Wings!  *clap*  *clap* *clapclapclap*

J: If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life what would it be?

C: Pinot grigio.  Oh wait, food?  Mmm, it’s a tie between crab and cheese.  So let’s say a cheesy crab dip.
