Welcome to the Random Day of Free Goodies
July 24, 2008 – 5:52 pm by Carolyn TangWelcome to the Random Day of Free Goodies. Somewhere in here we give away free stuff. That’s what that means. So read and watch if you want free stuff…
It is with full tummy and lickety lips that I embark on this entry. First, a little background. I work in the Client Services division of ShareASale, so part of my responsibilities include assisting merchants build a solid foundation for their affiliate programs. Recently we started working with Black & Decker Home on the Infrawave Speed Oven account. In response to an affiliate suggestion, we launched a Spanish-language site under this program.
Of course, that meant we needed to conduct a test transaction. Long story short, ShareASale is now the proud owner of our very own Infrawave Speed Oven. And let me tell you, it’s truly revolutionized our very, very modest kitchen. (Some might call it a hallway.)
The first day it was set up, I went out and bought a loaf of bread and some Kraft singles. Nothing better than grilled cheese to initiate our new kitchen appliance, right? I pop a couple slices of buttered bread in the Infrawave and hit the button conveniently marked “Toast.” I go to the fridge to pull out a slice of processed cheese. By the time I peel the plastic off my processed orange goodness, my toast is already done. No joke. It went from soft white bread to perfectly golden toast in just over a minute. I’m in awe. I’m running around the office shaking my toast yelling, “It’s done! It’s done!”
So then, we take an office vote and decide to make cookies. (I should point out that Brian, our CEO, was out of town at the time.) Nate, one of our tech support guys, hits the baking tray with a bit of Pam, and throws down some cookie dough. Bam. Eleven minutes later, our entire office (minus the CEO) has ceased all work-related operations to scarf down freshly baked cookies. The office hasn’t smelled this good since…well, since ever.
At lunchtime, I run to Trader Joe’s to pick up some frozen fish filets. The concept of having marinated ahi over a bed of macche lettuce for LUNCH, at the OFFICE, just about has me in tears. I’m tired of sandwiches, of microwave meals, of sub-par soups from convenience stores. I want real food. I return to the office with the fish and a bag of lettuce. I stick the frozen fish on a baking tray, throw a handful of macche on a paper plate, hit a couple buttons, then go back to my workstation to finish up a newsletter. Halfway through the second paragraph, the Infrawave beeps and I run to the kitchen-slash-hallway. Eleven minutes. It took eleven minutes and absolutely zero prep-time to have perfectly cooked ahi.
Yes, yes. I know you have a toaster oven. And that’s great. Really. But does your toaster oven make lemon pepper salmon in eight minutes? Does your toaster oven get just the right crustiness on a frozen pizza in a mere 12 minutes? Heck, does your toaster oven make a tender, juicy ribeye in less time than it takes to say “Black and Decker Home Infrawave Speed Oven”??? I should say not!
And to prove it, here is an actual video we made in the ShareASale test kitchen. As David, our sales director said in awe, “You can actually watch it toast!”

Great blog post Carolyn! And although David’s video gave me motion sickness, I watched it to the end! Am I first?

Chuck Summers wins by a nose.
Hope you enjoy your new oven Chuck, we’ll be in touch to get shipping info from you…

LOL, thanks Kim! And actually, it was Brian that took that video. He didn’t believe us so he re-tested our toast story. You can see him in the reflection of the oven.

Talk about luck. I’ve been working on a redesign all morning and decided to take a break and check out Twitter. There was your tweet, so I checked it out.
This Black and Decker Home Infrawave Speed Oven may be something I can build a small site around. Or at least promote from my cooking blog.
Thanks ShareASale, you guys are the best.

Ah, can we also assume that this film was directed, filmed and produced while Brian was out golfi- errrr, at a meeting?!
By Tom R. on Jul 25, 2008
Oh, wait, Brian filmed it, you’re safe, Carolyn, lol.

I am amazed. They make MACHINES that toast toast? Well, so much for the daily campfire.

Man, I’m always a day late and a dollar short.
Congrats Chuck!
P.S. That reminded me of the movie “Good Luck Chuck” - if you haven’t seen it, do! - it’s soooo funny.

Hey Guys,
Received the Infrawave Oven late yesterday. Was missing the use and care guide. Downloaded and printed the guide today.
Guess what! Sitting in front of me is a hot fresh-baked Peach and Strawberry Cobbler. Topped with vanilla ice cream of course.
This is so good, I wish I could share with all of you. (ShareASale… ShareACobbler) LOL
Thank you again, you guys are tops.
Chuck Summers
PS. Let’s see, what else can we cook? Maybe Deborah’s idea, a juicy ribeye!

That looks amazing! Nice toast job. But what’s the music in the background? I’d get some of that, too!
